We have information on some breeders, too. Amy Lane breeds both Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles in Maryland. Lovina
breeds Goldendoodles in Southern Ontario. If you would like to contact either of these breeders, just drop us a line and
we'll happily send you the info. There is also an open forum, a cyber-discussion group available to Doodles,
both Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. It is a place for owners to get in touch with each other and discuss their dogs - sharing
experiences - both pleasures and problems. Please drop in to read the postings, or to contribute.

There is another marvelous dog known as the Labradoodle which receives its heritage from the Labrador Retriver and
the Poodle. About 15 years ago, in Australia, a breeder deliberately bred a Lab with a Poodle in the
hopes of providing guide dogs to people who were allergic to dogs, as the Poodle's hair doesn't bother most people with dog
allergies. Many of the pups met the standard, and either didn't shed at all or didn't shed much, as well.
Most breeders only breed 1st generation dogs. They do so to maintain hybrid vigour. The labradoodle has the friendly
nature and trainability of the Lab, and the intelligence of the Poodle. To find out more about hybrid vigour, check out the
web site Kate's Family Pets. Other breeders are cross breeding the labradoodles back into poodles to create
a Labradoodle breed. They are doing so to assure the hypo-allergetic and non-shedding qualities of the poodle, while still
having a Lab look to them. So far, these dogs are only bred in Australia.
